Monica is a psychologist holding both a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology and a Master of Clinical Psychology, this means that she has areas of speciality in both child and adolescent and adult mental health. She has an area of interest in feeding and eating disorders in children and adolescents and a passion for working with children and families presenting with developmental, behavioural, social, and emotional difficulties.

Monica also specialises in mental health across the lifespan and has an area of interest in young adult and adult adjustment disorders such as life transition, workplace stress and marital separation. She also provides couples therapy, and treatment of depression, anxiety, and other more complex mental health presentations.

Clinical Background

Provision of speciality diagnostic assessment and treatment in child and adolescent mental health. Monica has over 12 years’ experience working in inpatient and outpatient mental health services across Sydney, including a specialist role on the sexual assault team at RPA.

Monica is the Senior Psychologist at the child and adolescent mental health service, Campbelltown Hospital, she is also the Principal Psychologist at Eastern Suburbs Psychology and consults for the Australian Institute of Sports as part of their Mental Health Referral Network.

Body Image and Eating Disorders

Monica holds an area of specialty in eating and body image disorders. She is a proud member of the Eating Disorders and Body Image research network at WSU and was awarded the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Enterprise, and International Award, for excellence in interdisciplinary research in 2020. She held the position of Eating Disorders Coordinator for the Southwest Sydney local Health District in 2020, where she was responsible for consulting on the clinical aspects of eating disorders treatment and training in all four hospitals in this district.

Clinical Supervision

Monica is a Psychology board approved supervisor and provides clinical supervision as part of her role as a credentialed eating disorder clinician and member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders https://connected.anzaed.org.au/member/monicakrystynasekowski/ to those undertaking the credentialing program in NSW. She currently holds the position of Adjunct Fellow, in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology, Western Sydney.

Monica is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and College of Clinical Psychologists.
